Brake load sensing valve

What is a load sensing valve used for? How does the load sensing valve work? Is this a brake proportioning valve? There are three types of proportioning valve in use today: master cylinder mounte combination valve mounted and load sensing.

Master cylinder mounted valves are located on the master cylinder and screwed into the fluid ports between the master cylinder and the brake lines. Combination valve mounted valves are part of the combination valve along with the pressure differential switch and the metering valve. A load sensing valve is normally bolted to the inside of the rear chassis. Its function is to regulate the amount of brake fluid pressure from the brake master cylinder going to the rear axle.
