Briggs and stratton nikki carb problems

Taking the Nikki carb apart to service it and. I found a parts explosion of the carburetor (a Nikki ) and noticed that they changed the carb design after mine was made. Been hours today trying to fix it. I cleaned the carb , adjusted the valves and today replaced the needle.


I can get it to start exactly once after each change.

But not more than once! A non-starting engine is usually caused by stale fuel , dirt and debris. Replacing the fuel and cleaning the carburetor and spark plugs can often fix the issue. Brigs and Stratton engines can run roughly once starte stalling out during use. If your spark plugs look goo problems with your ignition system can also preventing a spark.

Recently I got a beat to death mower with an Briggs twin intek, early model. They had problems with the number cylinder exhaust pushrod being ejected into the motor and wrapping around and taking the cam out. It does have spark. Never had problem with having the clamps all three ports of the Briggs vacuum fuel pump. Most likely the problem was due to a damaged float bowl gasket or fuel transfer tube o-ring.


On the Nikki carburetor all it takes a small nick to cause problems. Pull the starter rope. If the engine starts and then quickly dies, the carburetor is likely the problem.
