Food variety was short. The plates were very small for such price: starters were tinny and main courses were starter size.

The monthly changing menu is made up of British dishes such as silver mullet with smoked mussels, roasted cod and bone marrow, and venison haunch with blood pudding and red cabbage. The restaurant is set on the corner of peaceful and beautiful Ealing Common in a traditional Victorian shop premises, where for over years we have been proud to offer fine British cooking and a warm welcome. There is a small upstairs dining area and a larger downstairs area which is non-smoking and has a jazz pianist playing some evening. Nice use of seasonal ingredients and imaginative combinations that on this menu, do work. Set over two floors, every table offers a view over the Common. All three ventures respect their ingredients and have a knack for reimagining flavour combinations, but W5’s menu structure differs, with the majority of the dishes available in three sizes– taster, small and large. In has been full renovated in recent years and is now a stylish addition to the neighbourhood.

As an ex long term resident of Ealing, I have always wanted to try this restaurant which is situated just at the edge of Ealing Common. Teaming up with Sipsmith to bring their winter terrace, launching on the 2nd November, complete with blankets, fairy lights, hot cocktails and roasted chestnuts. Head chef, Lee Cadden is always introducing and testing new menu items, I was lucky enough to be there on the day of the beef bavette and I have said it must become a permanent staple on the menu.
